To answer the big question everyone was asking last update: Yes Nia gets periods! She got them at a normal age and continues to get them once a month. She CAN stop them if she wants to but chooses not to because it just feels weird and unhealthy.

She can also turn into a boy.

@Xylas_Incarnum: Sure can. She can change anything about her physical self, just chooses not to.

@kurdle Having a period or not doesn't make you any less of a lady, we (the authors) both agree on that! You are who you are, may you be female, male, or non binary.

With Nia's case, it's more that she doesn't feel she has a fine understanding of the sex hormones involved with her body, and she does not want to over extend her what her body can naturally produce.

There's a lot she doesn't understand about humans. She might take a IUD or another form of birth control if she was aware of it. But so far, she's clueless.

... IF she can change her gender, doesn't that mean she could alter her current gender's proportions if she wanted to?

@ZHODY the delfinator: Maybe his shoe is also a phone, and he's going to call some one?

@ParadoxComic: Ok... That has GOT to be used when they need to be disguised and keep moving 'cause they are on the run from something.
if you don't look like the wanted poster you can move easier.
See Mistique for sorta concept.

Hmmmm. You know what? I keep looking at Nia's hair and thinking it is the perfect length for her. It suits her personality very well.

i have an IUD and i haven't had my period in five years. i don't feel unnatural or like any less of a lady. it hasn't affected my fertility or my health, at all. i just don't have periods.

it's Nia's own personal choice, of course, but i think her reasoning is pretty silly. periods are TERRIBLE, why wouldn't you choose not to have them if it didn't have any adverse affects whatsoever?

@kurdle: I think periods suck too, and getting rid of them probably wouldn't affect Nia's health, but just for medical purposes I wanna point out that uterine proliferation without the protective effects of sloughing off the tissue increases risk of endometrial (uterus) cancer. That's why contraceptives always include progesterone, and why women with PCOS take contraceptives to have regular periods! So always space out your estrogen with progesterone!

(Also I don't think paradox is saying not having a period makes you less female...but that's just me :P)
I see what you're getting at...

@kurdle: ... But I'd guess in the case of Nia it might be complicated a little by being half-demigod half-human. I don't know which side of herself Nia identifies with most strongly, but if she connects very deeply with her humanity, then in this case I can see why she might feel uncomfortable with being able to stop her period using magic. Like... Other humans gotta deal with it using their own two hands, so just stopping it using magic might make her feel weirdly isolated. But that's in the context of her identity as a human, rather than her connection to womanhood; I don't know what her actual reasoning is.

@kurdle: (Though come to think of it, even if she still has periods 'naturally', maybe she still uses her godly powers to do a little something about those side symptoms :P)
